Lancet Films, based in San Francisco, is founded by Ellen Poon in 2007 after her long tenure in the film industry, working for George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic, Dreamworks and Electronic Arts. Her extensive experience and contact in the industry means Lancet Films is well positioned to provide design and execution of high quality visual effects and animations for major film studios, advertising agencies and game developers worldwide.
Ellen Poon is an acclaimed expert in the high-tech visual effects field with over 25 years of professional experience. Previously, she was Visual Effects Supervisor at George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic, the film industry's premier production house for high-quality 3D animation and graphics.
Ellen joined ILM twenty years ago, and her work for the company has included developing cutting-edge digital effects -- on budget and on time -- for some of the most successful feature films of all time including "The Green Mile," "Star Wars -- Episode 1: The Phantom Menace," "Jurassic Park," and "Men In Black." Ellen's computer-generated realization of the miracles in "The Green Mile" and the dinosaurs in "Jurassic Park" are just some of her many on-screen accomplishments.
One of her projects “Hero” is her first collaboration with Asia Director Zhang Yimou. She brings to her projects a unique combination of inspiration, meticulous technical expertise and fiscal acumen enhanced by a refined creative aesthetic. The film won her the Best Visual Effects at the 2003 HK Film Awards.
Ellen recently switched focus and worked on two fully computer generated films; “Shrek2” and “Madagascar” for PDI/Dreamworks. Since coming out in May 2004, “Shrek2” has broken the all time box office record for an animated film.
Ellen has also worked as a Senior Director of Art Production for Electronic Arts, the biggest game company in the world prior to becoming the founder of Lancet Films. At EA, she worked on one of the best selling EA Sports games "Tiger Woods PGA Tour" 2006 and 2007 on all platforms including XBOX360 and PS3.
Prior to coming to America, Ellen was the head of the 3D Department at Rushes Post Production in London. She also spent four years as Senior Computer Animator and Software Designer at The Moving Picture Company in London. Rushes and MPC are best known for being some of the most prolific commercial, television and film post-production companies in Europe.
Ellen headed back to London to work on Inception. This film has become 2011's worldwide blockbuster and has won the 2011 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
